50 marathons 50 DaysCore Creations presents Naked Running!  Okay, maybe NOT "naked" in the real sense of the word...naked in that we're returning to a stripped off organic philosophy of how running mechanics should be.  After I picked up the DVD and book Chi Running, it blew my mind this stuff wasn't taught in grade school.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I once read there are over 45 million people who run in the USA, and 16 million of those will inevitably get sidelined from injury.

What STOPS most people from running?

Shin splints and knee pain (runner's/jumper's knee).  I had knee pain because I ran on my heels, which is unfortunately using our body's natural breaking system, so if you're a "heel" runner, then you're literally breaking with every step.  And, shin splints are caused by running primarily on the ball of the foot/toes, or leading with the feet.  

It was because of this knee pain, I sought out and found a source on pain free running, 

ENTER: Chi Running.  

At the time, I was training for the 2008 Fresno marathon and was having excruciating pain on the outside and inside of my right knee (both tendinitis and runner's knee).  I was a Division 1 athlete playing baseball at Fresno State from 2000-2003 for crying out loud!  I never ever had to deal with knee pain, OR even broke a bone in my entire playing career for that matter, and now my knees were killing me :/

I finally saw the light...

So, after changing my running biomehanics, my knee pain went away within 1-2 weeks!  By the Grace of God I finished my first marathon in 4 hours and 30 minutes, not the fastest time, but I did it.

What is Naked Running exactly?

Naked Running is about running the right way, the way our cavemen (and women) ancestors were built to run, NAKED!  There I go again, just kidding...Our lives have gotten so sedentary and our shoes so "supportive," both these issues dampen the hopes & dreams of the millions of runners who start their New Year's resolution off with a bang to eventually sit out because of injury.  Other things hampering your running longevity: past injuries and surgeries also have created muscles that don't work right together, even after Physical Therapy because we stop doing the exercises once we're not being held accountable anymore.  

NAKED Running attempts to remove these roadblocks, and for most can become cement mental blocks. 

It's how to "prepare" and "take care" of our bodies, so we can run (or walk) without pain deep into old age.  And yes, it can be done.  My NAKED Running Seminars will take place at Bullard High School on the Barstow side of the school where the soccer/baseball fields are.  The seminars will start at 8:30-8:45am every Saturday morning and run (pardon the pun) about 45 mins to 1 hour or so, and will be in 4 week increments...each week for three weeks we'll focus on one/two aspects of running biomechanics, and the fourth week we'll look into interval running and how manipulating your heart running can take your workouts to NEW levels!
